North Tyne Valley

Kielder is the home of the largest man made forest in Europe and the site of the largest man made lake, and yet despite the vast acreage of water and forest, there are still some large areas of open moor, and the crags tend to be exposed. The general inaccessibility of the area, the long walk ins the poor weather and the midges should ensure that climbing on the crags of these moors will never get so popular as to damage the fragile environment and will always be a peaceful experience. Also included in this section is the area of land east of KIelder up to the A68, which contains a couple of poor crags.
