Broomlea Lough (Dove Crag)

Approach

Situated about 1km north west of the B6318 Military Road, access is via a public right of way from Moss Kennels to Hadrians Wall, about 1km west of Housteads fort. Then either strike out across the boggy moor (wellies are strongly recommended), or follow the south side of the wall eastwards to the edge of the bog and skirt the bog, passing under a reasonable little bouldering crag en route.

Routes

1  Consolation 15m HVS 5a 
Takes the overhanging wall to the right of the big roof.
2  Brutus 15m HVS 5b 
The crack to the left of the roof will appeal to masochistic off-width enthusiasts.
3  The Throwback 16m E4 5c 
Start just left of the previous route. Climb the wall to the horizontal break. Follow this rightwards, crossing the wide crack and continue to the nose. Move round the nose and up the wall to a slabby finish or a knock back.
4  The Handsome Peddlar 13m E6 6b *** (**new**)
Climbs the unrecorded aid route up the front of the buttress, passing the old wooden wedge.
