Park in the forestry commission car park between Lordenshaw and Great Tosson, just south of Rothbury. From the back of the car park a path goes through the forest and up the hill, across a track and on up to a forestry road,. Turn left and follow the road under Simonside crag. Where a track swings to the left, go straight on along the edge of the scarp with a forest to your left up to a fence. Cross this and follow a faint path for 100m to the top of the crag.
A tremendous Fell Sandstone crag in a fine, wild setting on the north facing scarp of the Simonside Hills. The rock is not unlike gritstone in texture and offers some of the finest routes in Northumberland. Because of it's relatively remote location, Ravensheugh gets too few visits and has therefore become a little dirty on the less popular lines. It's worth taking along a brush and trying some of these fine routes.
